Please note, we are a non-equity company who hires both local and non-local professional actors. Contracts typically range between 4-8 weeks. Stipends usually range from $300-$1,000 depending on show, role, and season. Housing and travel stipends available for out-of-town actors.

Job Alert! We are hiring a House Manager for our outdoor summer 2024 season at Lowell Observatory. Both shows run concurrently every weekend from July 10-August 4. If interested, please send a business resume asap to [email protected]. Applications close May 25th. Here is a bit about the role:

Pay: $500 Stipend per production ($1,000 total if you can do both summer shows)

Duties
Front of House

  • Tabling set-up and tear-down before and after performances
  • Sale of food and/or beverages and merchandise to patrons
  • Restocking food and/or beverages and merchandise as needed
  • Picking up ice each day to keep beverages cool in cooler
  • Setting up the “Resplendent Rocker”
  • Collecting an email address from “Resplendent Rocker” winners at intermission, taking their donation at intermission, and getting them a free beverage before the show.
  • Greeting patrons and assisting them– as needed– with finding seating, locating facilities, and other general inquiries
  • Responsibility for the upkeep of the performance location before and after performances, including:
  • Proper disposal of trash and recycling
  • Ensuring patron seating is organized, neat, and in accordance with the seating plan
  • Removal of water from the tent canopy in the event of heavy rain
  • Management of and communication with volunteer(s) assisting with the above duties
  • Other duties relevant to the position as they arise
  • Pay will increase if performances are added due to high demand

Venue Liaison

  • Act as primary FlagShakes point of contact for the venue staff on performance dates. This may include:
  • Coordinating with the venue staff to call holds for weather
  • Assisting with coordination of venue-provided transport for patrons with limited mobility
  • Working with the venue to ensure that the performance location is communicated effectively to patrons
  • Communicating venue updates relevant to the production team to the Stage Manager and/or Production Manager
  • Escalating venue-related concerns to the venue staff
