10th Anniversary Summer Season
The Merry Wives of Windsor & Julius Caesar
by William Shakespeare
Join Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival for our TENTH anniversary summer season! To commemorate this momentous year, FlagShakes will bring northern Arizona The Merry Wives of Windsor and Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. And after three sold-out weekends last summer, we have expanded to a full month of summer shows in 2024!
Julius Caesar explores loyalty, honor, and betrayal, while Merry Wives revels in the joy of female friendship! One is a serious look at the violent consequences of a struggle for power, the other is a silly journey that is sure to make you laugh from start to finish. Both shows will be held at the beautiful, historic Lowell Observatory under our spacious, open-air festival tent, surrounded by ponderosa pine trees and the wide open starry skies.
The Merry Wives of Windsor will be directed by Katherine Mayberry of Pigeon Creek Shakespeare in Michigan, who last directed our production of The Comedy of Errors in 2022, a fan favorite that was widely loved for its beautiful design and tight comedic timing. Our very own production manager Justus Burkitt will make his directorial debut with Julius Caesar. You have seen Justus both onstage and off all over Arizona, and his passion for Shakespeare is sure to shine through his production. As always, the summer shows will include a tight-knit group of professional actors and musicians from all over Arizona and the world!
Be sure to grab tickets before we’re sold out. Individual show times can be found below. We hope to see you this summer, under the stars!
