As theatre tickets compete with the rising costs of living, FlagShakes takes a bold step in offering Pay What You Wish ticketing option to all mainstage shows.
FlagShakes is adding a Pay What You Wish ticketing to all FlagShakes 2026 mainstage productions (with a few collaborative exceptions). Some shows—like “Much Ado About Dinosaurs” and “Every Brilliant Thing”—will be fully pay what you can.
Lowering barriers helps:
- low-income and working families
- young people discovering theatre for the first time
- artists and audiences who need spaces of connection and reflection
When patrons purchase FlagShakes tickets online, they will see the standard FlagShakes ticket prices, and they will also see a $0 Pay What You Wish option. Patrons will select the number of tickets needed, and—if they’re able—they can add an additional donation with the ticket purchase at checkout. Patrons are also welcome to bring a check or cash to the theatre.
2026 Season Flex Pass benefits are expanding. In 2026:
- Newly added, season flex passes may be used for special events with higher price points that are not pay what you wish (such as “Shakespeare’s Sirens at La Posada” and our winter fundraiser “Fezziwig’s Ball”).
- Season flex passes will also continue to be honored for select weekends or performances where Pay What You Wish does not apply.
It is highly recommended to secure the Pay What You Wish tickets in advance. Similar to other tickets, Pay What You Wish tickets are not guaranteed to be available at the door, and will only be available at the door if the event is not sold out. The generosity of patrons who are able to donate buys more than just a ticket. It holds the door open for someone else.
